Caro the Tour Guide Tells Us How to Conquer Miami
By Eric Barton | Feb. 8, 2025
If you’ve ever fallen down a Miami travel rabbit hole on Instagram, you’ve probably stumbled across Caro Isabela, better known as Caro the Tour Guide. She’s that friend who knows exactly where to find the best Cuban coffee, which ventanita serves croquetas that could change your life, and why you should absolutely not order a mojito on Calle Ocho (she’ll explain). After months of taking notes from her posts—sometimes just mentally, sometimes scribbled in an actual notebook—I decided to reach out and ask her, directly, for her top recommendations in Miami, especially in Little Havana. Turns out, she had the best advice on all the best things to do in Miami.
Q: How do you start your day?
I usually start my day at home, brewing a cup of coffee using my cafetera, and I love to sit on my balcony listening to the roosters crow. Some mornings I will go meet friends for breakfast at San Pocho which is my go-to.

Q: Secret lunch spot?
I'm currently obsessed with Subs on the Run as a break from La Sandwicherie.

Gyu Kaku in Brickell is always a good option, and they've always got good deals going on!

Q: Where to when you need a good cocktail?
I can't stop going to Cote for their magic happy hour. It's every day from 5-7, select cocktails and apps for a lucky number $8.88. Insane!

Q: What about if you're splurging?
Amara at Paraiso in Edgewater is one of the most scenic restaurants that we have in Miami and their food is spectacular.

Q: Must-do in Little Havana?
Besides eating a Cuban sandwich somewhere they must have the Abuela Maria ice cream from Azucar.
