Top Asheville Hotels for 2025: Where to Stay in the Heart of the Blue Ridge
By Eric Barton | March 10, 2025
Back when I first started visiting Asheville, long before becoming a part-time resident here, I thought the best place to stay was a friend’s couch, because I was young, cheap, and unconcerned with back pain.
Then I got older, developed a preference for mattresses that don’t fold up, and realized Asheville is one of those places where the right hotel can turn a trip into something you actually remember.
It’s a city where a stay in a historic mansion makes you feel like old money, where a boutique downtown hotel gets you into the thick of things, and where even the big chains seem to understand that Asheville is special. Here’s where to stay if you want to do it right.
1. Hotel Arras
7 Patton Ave | Website | Instagram
It’s hard to miss Hotel Arras—it’s literally Asheville’s tallest building. And inside, it’s just as impressive. Kimpton has transformed this former bank into a stylish, Art Deco-infused hotel with big windows, mid-century furniture, and a lobby that feels like a hip living room. Downstairs, Bargello serves Mediterranean food good enough that you might actually make a reservation even if you aren’t staying here.
2. Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa
290 Macon Ave | Website | Instagram
Let’s start with the granddaddy of Asheville hotels, The Omni Grove Park Inn. This place has been around since 1913, and staying here feels like stepping back in time—minus the questionable hygiene and lack of Wi-Fi. The stone fireplaces are big enough to roast an entire herd of cattle, and the sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains are worth the price of admission. Oh, and did I mention that F. Scott Fitzgerald once stayed here? If it was good enough for him, it’s good enough for you.
3. Moxy Asheville
61 Biltmore Ave | Website | Instagram
If you're the type who thinks checking into a hotel should feel more like entering a lively social club, Moxy Asheville is your spot. Located downtown, this place greets you with a complimentary cocktail at check-in, setting the tone for a stay that's anything but ordinary. The rooms, though compact, are cleverly designed with chic, functional spaces and 55-inch flat-screen TVs. After a night out at nearby venues like The Orange Peel, you can crash in style just a block away.
4. The Radical
95 Roberts St | Website | Instagram
Just like the city of Asheville itself, The Radical survived the floods of Helene and came out as strong as ever. Luckily the water impacted only the basement, meaning The Radical’s excellent restaurant, Golden Hour, the ultra-hip lobby, the rooftop bar with its river views, and the rooms in between, were all unaffected. The decor is a vibrant mix of industrial chic and eclectic artistry, with street art murals and bespoke furnishings adding to its unique character. If you’re looking for a hotel that Best reflects Asheville’s character, this is it.
5. AC Hotel Asheville Downtown
10 Broadway St | Website | Instagram
This one’s for people who appreciate the finer things, like an absence of clutter and a minibar that doesn’t look like it was stocked by a gas station. The AC Hotel leans into its sleek, Euro-inspired design, with rooms that feel more Barcelona than Blue Ridge. But the real reason to stay is Capella on 9, the rooftop bar with a view that reminds you why you came to Asheville in the first place.
6. The Foundry Hotel
51 S Market St | Website | Instagram
For a taste of Asheville’s industrial past, The Foundry Hotel is your spot. This boutique hotel is located in what used to be an actual steel foundry, which means you’ll be surrounded by exposed brick and beams that make you feel like you’re sleeping in a history lesson. The rooms are chic but unpretentious, and the service is on point without being overbearing. Plus, you’re just a short walk from downtown, so you can stumble back after one too many craft beers.
7. Blind Tiger
173 E Chestnut St | Website | Instagram
Blind Tiger is the kind of place where you feel like a house guest who’s stumbled into a secret society. Set in a historic mansion, the boutique hotel blends old-world charm with modern quirks—think ornate fireplaces paired with avant-garde art. If you want to impress someone with your insider knowledge of Asheville, this is the spot to drop into conversation.
8. Hotel Indigo Asheville
151 Haywood St | Website | Instagram
Hotel Indigo has figured out that a hotel can feel upscale without feeling like it was manufactured in a corporate boardroom. This one is full of Asheville personality, from the local artwork in the rooms to the lobby’s cozy but modern vibe. Plus, the location puts you just a short walk from the Basilica of Saint Lawrence and a quick stumble from some of Asheville’s best breweries.
9. Albemarle Inn
86 Edgemont Rd | Website | Instagram
This 1909 Greek Revival mansion feels like the kind of place where Southern writers might have holed up to finish their novels. The rooms are elegant, there’s a grand porch that practically begs you to sit and drink sweet tea, and it’s close enough to downtown that you can wander back after dinner.
10. The Inn on Biltmore Estate
1 Antler Hill Rd | Website | Instagram
If you’re planning to visit the Biltmore Estate, you might as well stay on the property at The Inn on Biltmore Estate. This is where you go when you want to pretend you’re a Vanderbilt for the weekend. The views of the estate’s rolling hills are stunning, and you’re just a stone’s throw from all the activities the estate has to offer, from wine tastings to horseback riding. Just be prepared for the fact that you may never want to leave.
11. The Windsor Boutique Hotel
36 Broadway St | Website | Instagram
If you’re the type who likes your accommodations with a side of quirk, The Windsor Boutique Hotel is your jam. Each suite is decorated in its own unique style, which means you might end up staying in a room that looks like it was curated by your eccentric aunt who’s really into flea markets. The location is smack dab in the middle of downtown, so you can roll out of bed and straight into Asheville’s food scene. And with just 14 suites, it’s intimate enough that you might forget you’re in a hotel at all.
12. The Bunn House
15 Clayton St | Website | Instagram
Asheville does boutique hotels well, and The Bunn House is proof. This five-room mansion is the kind of place where every detail has been obsessed over—plush robes, heated bathroom floors, a stash of local snacks. It’s quiet, intimate, and has private terraces where you can drink your morning coffee while pretending you own the place.
13. Cambria Hotel Downtown
15 Page Ave | Website | Instagram
The Cambria Hotel is the kind of place that feels cool without trying too hard. The rooms are modern and spacious, and the views from the higher floors remind you why people fall in love with Asheville. The best part? Hemingway’s Cuba, the rooftop bar and restaurant where you can sip a mojito and pretend you’re in Havana, except with mountain views.
14. Cedar Crest Inn
674 Biltmore Ave | Website | Instagram
If your idea of a vacation includes waking up in a pink Victorian mansion and having breakfast in a grand dining room, Cedar Crest Inn is for you. The Biltmore Estate is practically next door, making it the perfect home base if you’re planning to spend a day wandering its halls and pretending you’re Vanderbilts.
15. Aloft Asheville Downtown
51 Biltmore Ave | Website | Instagram
Aloft hotels tend to feel like they were designed for someone who listens to indie music and has a perfectly curated Instagram aesthetic, and the Asheville one is no exception. The design is bright and modern—the lobby even has a pool table. Oh, and they have an outdoor pool, which is surprisingly rare in this city.
16. Black Walnut B&B Inn
288 Montford Ave | Website | Instagram
Some B&Bs are stuffy, all floral wallpaper and creaky floors. Black Walnut B&B is not one of those. It’s cozy but elegant, with big four-poster beds, clawfoot tubs, and fireplaces that make you want to curl up with a book and pretend you live here.
17. Hilton Garden Inn Asheville
309 College St | Website | Instagram
If you want to be downtown but also want a hotel with a rooftop bar where you can drink a solid Old Fashioned, the Hilton Garden Inn is your place. It’s modern, comfortable, and has the kind of well-lit, functional rooms that don’t try too hard but get the job done. Bonus: there’s a free shuttle that will take you anywhere downtown, which means you can skip driving altogether.
